How can automation engineering time be cut in half?

1. Engineer the complete automation solution in one integrated engineering environment
When you engineer a complete automation solution (incl. PLC, HMI, I/O, industrial networks, electrical drives, motion control, safety solutions and low-voltage components) in the TIA Portal programming environment, you get a seamlessly integrated solution that minimizes interfaces and reduces the possibility of errors. One integrated engineering environment allows AI-assisted engineering and virtual testing to deliver value across the complete automation solution.

2. Use AI to reduce repetitive engineering work
With TIA Portal's Eigen Engineering Agent, you can streamline automation engineering, reduce and automate routine programming tasks, and create higher quality code. Your automation engineers can spend less time on repetitive work and more time on developing machine functionality, customer solutions and new innovations.

3. Test and validate the machine before building the physical prototype
With the digital twin of the machine, you can test and verify the functionality of the automation code before building the first physical prototype. By testing the mechanics and automation together in a virtual environment, potential issues can be identified earlier, reducing late changes and accelerating physical commissioning.

4. Build cybersecurity readiness into the machine architecture
A standardized Siemens secure-by-design automation architecture helps strengthen machine cybersecurity and supports readiness for applicable EU requirements, including the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Cybersecurity also requires a comprehensive approach that covers risk assessment, processes, system design, configuration, documentation, updates and lifecycle management.
